GCVote Installation

Firefox installation (GCVote's main feature)

It's now time to explore www.geocaching.com and look for the ratings displayed on many pages.

Rating caches

You can use GCVote to just look at cache ratings, but if you want to really participate and add your own experience and ratings, you will need to get in touch with me, Guido, and tell me a password you would like to use to rate caches. Previously this password was optional but it is now mandatory. This prevents others cachers or even non-cachers from using your name.

*** Rating a cache is always anonymous, unless you choose to disclose it using the optional Template box. See Template below.

Log in at www.geocaching.com and use the Find another player link on the right and look for user BonnerGuido (or simply click here). Then send me a message with your preferred GCVote password. THIS password has to be UNIQUE, I do NOT want your geocaching.com account password. Please note that the password is CaSe SeNsItIvE.

If you want to receive a confirmation mail or do not send a preferred password, you must include your email address with your message.

Once you have received my confirmation mail, you need to enter your password in GCVote's Configuration box in the geocaching.com side bar:

Template: will paste the text you want at the end of a "found it" log only when you press the new "Insert GCVote Info" button. Default is (Rated %%% stars with GCVote) where %%% will be replaced by your vote value. If you prefer, you can also choose to let people know you rated this cache using GCVote but remove the %%% so you do not disclose your rating.

Minimum vote count: instruct GCVote to display rating of a cache only when that minimum vote count is reached.

NashTech's WideView macro is really great. It let us see complete cache description in the bottom window in a good looking way, thanks to the Split screen feature. Adding 2 lines of codes makes it possible to see ratings and also add your personal rating.
